The Siloam Saga: Kittens in Nottingham

I currently am sitting in my dining room with two toddler cats in my lap.   In the evenings, Chistoso (Chisto) and Llanto cry for mommy to hold them.  Actually, they cry in the mornings too only I don't generally have time to cuddle then.  They've been the source of great entertainment for my house guests and comfort for my heart. Comfort I didn't know I craved.

I'm not much of an animal person.  They stink.  Their excrement stinks more.   Really, God created them to be enjoyed from afar outdoors, right?  I have a soft spot for cats though.  Maybe it is because I have a beautiful calico from the time I was about 1 to 19.  Maybe it is just the softness of their fur.  Or maybe there is no good reason.  I must be going soft because my house smells funny because of them and I *still* want them here.  There is just something about babies- even animal babies.

I'm sure you're saying to yourself "I want to see!".   Hopefully one day i'll get some pictures but ya'll, I'm trying so hard not to be one of "those" people.  Seriously.  Think about it.  The crazy single cat lady.  Not such an attractive title.  Besides, they don't tend to stay still enough to get a good picture.

It is funny how God uses something like an animal to bless.  It is a ball of fur that doesn't speak and does nothing but indirectly take my money.  Yet, I love those little fur balls.  My heart is gladdened by their presence. I don't understand, God. How does this work? Why do You bless me so?  How is it that my heart wants to worship You because I have kittens?!

As you read this last paragraph and think to yourself "She's off her rocker", gloss over my teetering on the edge of insanity and bless the LORD.  Bless Him for creatures. For His good gifts.  This is me standing in the midst of the congregation saying

 "Bless the LORD"

  1. I couldn't help but burst into laughter when I read your second paragraph, only to be reminded of my younger years, when Dad had a larger-than-average aquarium in the hallway with multiple goldfish and tropical fish. I was literally amazed at one's disposal, only to witness another fish to think its food.

Anyhow, now that I've unintentionally put you off your food. I am sure God created animals, including those we can safely have as household pets - as a reminder of His great creation. And yet, despite our awe and fondness of such cute furballs great and small (and not so cute animals) again, great and small, the LORD God chose us to have dominion over that of His creation (what an awesome, yet overwhelming responsibility!), but more crucially God created man in the image of God.

...and Beks, you are too young to be dubbed "the crazy single cat lady". It's only when you start uploading cat videos on YouTube...

We could pray for you for that if you want? :P

    In Christ,
    Richard
